1930s "Slipback Steamer"

Item Code: jb008
This style of chair was sometimes referred to as a Steamer, as they might have been seen on the passenger deck of a cruise ship. The (gentle) reclining action meant they were for napping, observing or reading...depending on the mood. This piece is compact and oak framed, the wood gently sanded and french polished to a honey finish, with the age and patina left on. The fabric is slate grey Lancashire wool, undyed and gloriously natural. All stuffing and upholstery is new. H33, D26, W22, Seat 14 inches
